about

This is the audio component for an art installation of the same title. It will rest on top of an art presentation podium in a small 6”x6” wide and 3” high black casing with small openings on each side. Inside the casing is a concealed iPhone which plays an infinite loop of an original composition performed by the artist. Four headphones are connected to the iPhone via a headphone amp. The work title is printed on top of the casing four times. Each person who stands at the artwork and wears headphones becomes a participant in the artwork. The composition is a repeatedly sung mantra of the words “Is there no justice in this world?” with accompaniment on acoustic guitar. It is digitally edited to overlay itself offset by a few milliseconds after each full phrase, creating a building echo effect. When the words sung are nearly indecipherable after 18:31 the entire composition will seamlessly loop back to 00:00 as there is no intentional beginning or end. Participants may choose to sing along to the mantra and even hold hands.
